MANILA, Philippines — Is a Sharon-Gabby project still possible? If you ask Sharon Cuneta herself, she’s game if Gabby is.

Speaking to reporters after the press conference of Iconic, her upcoming concert with Regine Velasquez, Sharon said: “I can’t speak for him. I can only speak for myself and I think I’ve spoken too much about it before na let’s just hope. If you’ll ask him and he’s open to it I’ve no problem with it. I am a professional actor. And based on last night’s reaction, and the requests we’ve been getting from social media, I think it would be nice to work together again.”

The Megastar was referring to the Gabay Guro event last Sunday, September 22, wherein she performed. A video of her and Gabby singing a duet got fans’ hearts fluttering and clamor for them to do at least one more project together is well and alive once again.

Sharon said that neither Gabby nor herself expected the audience’s reaction.

“The truth is, nagulat din kami (we were surprised). We weren’t supposed to sing together. I didn’t even know that he was going to be there,” she said.

It was also during the show that she and Gabby were able to talk again. 

“I dunno if it’s too personal—but he asked a friend of mine if, you know, he could talk to me and I said, ‘You know, time has passed… I think it’s okay.’” 

Sharon said that it was “nice” that she and Gabby were able to chat and that they are now okay.

In 2016, the ex-couple were supposed to do a movie together but that was canceled. Since then, fans of the two have continued to hope for a project.

In 2018, the two briefly reunited for a commercial for a fast food brand. — Rappler.com
