How technology can ‘program the future’ of PH students

MANILA, Philippines – The most powerful people today are in science and tech. They’re changing the world, disrupting industries such as the media, telecommunications, and economy.

The academic disciplines of science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) are as relevant as ever. Educational institutions are recognizing the importance of introducing STEM at an early age and fortifying this knowledge with specialty courses.

Do our students have what it takes to shape the future?

Technology is evolving fast, and the academe needs to work hand-in-hand with business and industry leaders to ensure students build relevant and marketable skills.

With their curiosity and ability to adapt quickly, our students show potential to be the next Mark Zuckerberg, Sheryl Sandberg, or Jeff Bezos. But this may not be realized if we don’t give them the opportunity and the tools with which to hone their skills.

To do this, Accenture hosts Program the Future for young innovators. It’s a yearly competition between students to build apps which solve pressing issues and change lives.

Their ideas show that students can create solutions to improve lives of fellow Filipinos – and this is why we need to ensure they have the resources to pursue these.
