CONVERSATION: Online shopping for a stress-free Christmas
Here are the highlights of our conversation

MANILA, Philippines – There’s a drop in the temperature, the air smells faintly of puto bumbong and bibingka, and carols have been on heavy rotation on the radio and in malls for the past few weeks. There’s no doubt we’re very much in the middle of the Christmas season, and this could only mean one thing: presents.

Giving gifts is a tradition so deeply ingrained among Filipinos that Christmas won’t be complete without it. As soon as the first –ber month arrives, we begin to write our Christmas lists – or actually go ahead and buy carefully chosen gifts for our loved ones!

Due to hectic schedules, some don’t have much time to spare for Christmas shopping. Or perhaps they do have the time, but they’re apprehensive to head out to shop because the roads, public transport terminals, malls, and tiangges are congested with shoppers and commuters.

What can you do, then? Well, you could try heading to the shops during the weekdays to avoid the crowd. Or you could try online shopping.

Online shopping has a long list of pros – it’s convenient and offers more choices, plus online shops offer discounts more often than physical shops do – but it remains a bit unpopular among Filipinos because of various personal fears.

That’s why on December 2, we held a Twitter conversation on everything about online shopping in partnership with Lazada. Our followers shared with us their personal experiences about buying online: their most memorable purchases, fears, what they love and hate about it, and how it generally helps get errands done effortlessly especially during the holiday season.
