NEGROS OCCIDENTAL, Philippines – The 23rd Panaad sa Negros Festival will kick-off at the Panaad Park and Stadium on April 15 – 22, 2016 with the theme, “Panaad sa Negros: Showcasing our Island’s Sweet Surprises”.

Dubbed as the festival of all festivals, this year’s celebration is the first after due to the integration of the two Negros provinces into one region. (READ: FAST FACTS: The Negros Island Region)

On April 15, the first day of the festival will start with a thanksgiving mass at 8:00 a.m. at the Panaad Stadium that will be followed by ribbon cutting ceremonies for Tourism, Agri-Trade Fair and Exhibits, Organik na Negros Agri-fest, Livestock and Dairy Fair, Eco-Garden Show, Bamboo Advocacy, and Negros Island Photo Exhibit & festival Costume Display, among others, in designated areas at the Panaad Park and Stadium.

There will be a motorcade along the main streets of Bacolod City at 2:00 p.m. that will start from the Provincial Capitol to Panaad Park and Stadium, to be followed by the opening ceremony at 4:00 p.m. which be highlighted by the launching of the new tourism brand of Negros Occidental and a playground demonstration that will be performed by 1,500 students of the Negros Occidental High School (NOHS).

The Festival Dances Competition and Fireworks Display will follow right after the performance of NOHS students.

The GMA Kapuso Show at the Panaad Stadium, featuring well-known celebrities from Manila and RMN’s Panaad Hip Hop Challenge at the Panaad Park Stage, will be held simultaneously at 8:00 p.m.

On April 16, there will be an Animal Production Seminar at the PVO Activity Area at 8:00 a.m. and Farmers/Fishers Day Celebration & Farmers Forum at the Panaad Covered Court, while the First Trabaho Patrol sa Panaad will be held at the 2nd Level, Stage Area of the Panaad Stadium from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. of the same day.

 The Outstanding Farmers, Fisherfolks and Livestock Raisers Awards at the Panaad Stadium will be at 4:00 p.m., followed by ABS-CBN’s Kapamilya Fiesta Caravan at the Panaad Stadium at 6:00 p.m. while the Sine Negrense at the Panaad Park Stage will be at 8:00 p.m.

On April 17, a Pet Parade will be held 7:00 a.m. at the PVO Activity Area and a Poultry and Gamefowl Seminar will be at 1:00 p.m.

The Latin Dancesport Competition will be held at the Negros Occ. Multi-Purpose Activity Center (NOMPAC) at 3:00 p.m. while the Corporate Awards Night will be held at the Provincial Capitol Social Hall at 6:00 p.m and Globe Night at the Panaad Park Stage at 8:00 p.m.

On April 18, there will be a Meat Processing Seminar at the PVO Activity Area at 7:30 a.m. and a seminar on Meat Hygiene at 1:00 p.m. The Yamaha School of Music Students will hold a 6:00 p.m. concert at the Panaad Park Stage. 

The Lin-ay Sang Negros Pageant to be held 7:00 p.m. at the Panaad Stadium will highlight the 4th day of the festival. 

On April 19, there will be a Kultura Negrosanon: Paindis-indis sa Binalaybay, Rondalla kag Koro sang mga Empleyado at 3:00 p.m. at the Panaad Stadium while ABS-CBN M.O.R. Night will be at 6:00 p.m. at the Park Stage, and Music Appreciation with Negrense Tenor Ervin Lumauag at the Stadium at 7:00 p.m. 

On April 20, road races will start at 6:00 a.m. as well as other sports competitions to be followed by a Disease Management and Sample Collection Seminar at the PVO Activity Area at 8:00 a.m. and Investment Forum on Bamboo Potentials and Opportunities, 9:00 a.m. at the Capitol Social Hall. 

The highly-anticipated Philippine Folk Dance Competition will be held 6:00 p.m. at the Panaad Stadium while the Love Radio and Easy Rock Night will be held 8:00 p.m. at the Park Stage. 

On April 21, a Governor’s Cup Panaad National Golf Tournament spearheaded by the Vice Mayors League of the Phils. – Negros Occ. Chapter will be held at the Negros Occ. Golf and Country Club at 7:00 a.m. while a Livelihood Skills Competition led by TESDA will be held at 8:00 a.m. at the Panaad Covered Court. 

The Drum & Lyre Competition (Elementary Category) is scheduled 1:00 p.m. at the Panaad Football Field and Buglas Taliambong “Isa ka Isla, Isa ka Gab-i sang Pagpasundayag, 8:00 p.m. at the Stadium.

The last day of the festival on April 22 will feature the Provincial Capitol Employees Day at  8:00 a.m. at the Panaad Covered Court while the closing and awarding ceremonies will be held 4:00 p.m. at the Panaad Stadium, to be followed by the Panaad Drumbeating Competition, fireworks display, and 303rd Phil. Army Band Concert. 

Panaad Festival is an annual event spearheaded by the Provincial Government of Negros Occidental and Pag-ugyon Negros Foundation.
