KWF offers free seminar on language, poetry to SPA schools in Metro Manila
PRESS RELEASE: The seminar aims to give additional skills to teachers and students of SPA on the proper use of Filipino, and the conventions of writing poetry

This is a press release from the Komisyon sa Wikang Filipino.

The Komisyon sa Wikang Filipino (KWF) will conduct Uswag Wika at Tula, a free seminar on language and poetry for Department of Education (DepEd) schools offering Special Program for the Arts (SPA) on May 29 to 30 at the Marikina Science High School.

The seminar aims to give additional skills to teachers and students of SPA on the proper use of Filipino, and the conventions of writing poetry.

The chosen attendees will be taught by Michael Coroza of the Ateneo de Manila University for poetry, and Eilene Narvaez of the University of the Philippines-Diliman for language.

The free seminar is part of KWF’s ongoing campaign for the proliferation of the use of Filipino, the country’s national language, and the partnership of KWF with SPA schools in promoting the country’s language, culture, and the arts along with other cultural agencies.

The SPA is a national program of DepEd for children gifted with exceptional talent on the arts.

KWF will be expecting SPA attendees from cities of Pasig, Marikina, Mandaluyong, Manila, Parañaque, Muntinlupa, Quezon, and Malabon.

KWF is hoping for the active participation of the SPAs in the whole country on other projects by the language agency, such as Pambansang Kampong Balagtas, Gawad Jacinto, iKAW, and other events focused on stimulating imagination and cultural consciousness of the Filipino youth. – Rappler.com
