MANILA, Philippines – The Department of Science and Technology-Science Education Institute (DOST-SEI) is now accepting applications for the 2020 Undergraduate Scholarships Program. Grade 12 students in Academic Year 2019-2020 are encouraged to apply and pursue careers in science and technology.

All applicants must be natural-born Filipinos with good moral character and in good health. Application is open to students in the STEM strand but non-STEM students may also apply, provided they belong to the top 5% of their graduating class. 

Students who belong to families whose socio-economic information meet the cut-off values for certain socio-economic indicators may apply as RA 7687 scholars and must also be residents of the municipality for the last 4 years.

Those who belong to families whose socio-economic information are above the cut-off values may, on the other hand, apply as Merit scholars.

Scholars will receive the following financial assistance:

  • P40,000 per academic year to cover tuition and other school fees
  • P7,000 per month living allowance
  • P10,000 per academic year book allowance
  • *Transportation allowance
  • Group accident insurance
  • Graduation clothing allowance

To be able to enjoy the scholarship, applicants must pass the 2020 S&T Undergraduate Scholarships Examination and pursue a 4- or 5-year Bachelor of Science (BS) degree program in any of the priority fields of study at a state university or college or any private higher education institution that is recognized by the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) as a Center of Excellence, Center of Development, or with FAAP Level III accreditation for the BS program that they intend to enroll in.

Students may submit the documentary requirements and accomplished application form to the DOST-SEI Science and Technology Scholarship Division (STSD) office at the DOST Compound, General Santos Avenue, Bicutan, Taguig City, or any DOST Regional Office or Provincial Science and Technology Center.

The deadline for submission of application is on September 6, 2019. Date of nationwide examination is on October 20, 2019.
