EXPLORING MEDIA BREAKTHROUGHS. The First Student Media Congress on July 26-27 will be held at the Teresa Yuchengco Auditorium at De La Salle University in Manila.

MANILA, Philippines — The emergence of social media as the youth’s main source of information and communication has come full swing. Youth-led initiatives calling for good governance and advocacy support are just a few of the significant events happening in the digital sphere.

Such events are widespread all over the internet, but the De La Salle University Student Media Office took the initiative to streamline efforts related to the development of student media, and will be launching the First Student Media Congress: Exploring Media Breakthroughs. Endorsed by the Commission on Higher Education (CHED), the event will happen on July 26-27, 2013 at the Teresa Yuchengco Auditorium, De La Salle University in Manila.

The Congress aims to gather student media practitioners, campus journalists, and communicators in one venue to forge long-term relationships for the development of student media. Delegates will improve their ability to manage multimedia content and make the most of the data revolution.

Experts from broadcast, print, and digital media will be invited to share their knowledge on the various topics offered during the Congress. Aside from the plenary talks, there will be sponsor presentations and interactive games to add to the learning experience of all the delegates.
