Manila Symphony Orchestra brings ‘Bach Vs. Beatles,’ masterclass to Baguio
The country's oldest symphonic orchestra is bringing its outreach activity, Music Everywhere, to Baguio as part of its classical music awareness campaign to perform fine music outside of traditional concert halls

This is an announcement from the Manila Symphony Orchestra.

MANILA, Philippines – The Manila Symphony Orchestra (MSO), the country’s oldest symphonic orchestra and among Asia’s first, is bringing its outreach activity, Music Everywhere to Baguio City this April.

The MSO, led by Professor Arturo Molinda, will hold a free but strictly invitational matinee on April 25, Saturday, at 10 am at the courtyard of the Maryknoll Ecological Sanctuary on North Santo Tomas Road, Baguio, for the city’s religious community, the retreat houses’ staff and their families.

The program, Soundtracks and Symphonies, is made up of half popular and half classical compositions for the orchestra, including themes from movies and television series like Harry Potter, Game of Thrones, and James Bond medley

The matinee will be followed immediately by a masterclass for University of Baguio music students and teachers.

The MSO visit will culminate with an evening performance of Bach Versus Beatles on April 25 at Hill Station inside Casa Vallejo, an over 100-year-old restored heritage building on Upper Session Road, Baguio.

Dinner starts at 6:30 pm followed by the concert at 8:15 pm. This is the start of the restaurant’s “Classics at the Hill” series to support classical music artists and the Baguio public’s demand for fine music.

Hill Station and Casa Vallejo also packaged a concert tour that will have a van pick up Manila concert-goers who want to watch Bach Versus Beatles at 8 am on April 25 at the Shell gas station on McKinley Road and EDSA. The van will shuttle passengers to Baguio where they can stay a night, then bring them down on April 26 at 12 noon.
