Zoren Legaspi to cooperate with BIR on tax evasion charges
The actor says he's willing to correct any errors

MANILA, Philippines – Actor Zoren Legaspi said that he is willing to cooperate with the Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) in connection with the tax evasion charges filed against him on Thursday, May 8.

In a statement sent by his business manager Shirley Kuan to Pep.ph, Legaspi said that he is willing to rectify any errors and comply with tax regulations. “I personally agree that correct taxes should be paid for the development of our country,” Legaspi said in Filipino. “I’m more than willing to comply [with regulations] and cooperate regarding the ongoing investigation of my tax liabilities.”

The BIR on Thursday filed before the Department of Justice (DOJ) a criminal complaint against the actor for willful attempt to evade tax and deliberate failure to supply accurate information in his Income Tax Returns (ITRs) for years 2010 and 2012.

The bureau sued Legaspi after it accessed documents showing the actor’s “true income.” The bureau examined Legaspi’s books of accounts and other accounting records and compared it with his ITRs filed before the BIR.

Legaspi is registered with the BIR as a professional in the entertainment industry. He is married to actress-host Carmina Villaroel. They have two children, twins Mavy and Cassy. – Rappler.com
