Outraged Maegan defends dad Freddie Aguilar

MANILA, Philippines – “Anung masama dun? Anung masama kung nagpakatotoo siya?” (What’s wrong with that? What’s wrong if he’s being truthful?)

Those were some of the words singer-musician Maegan Aguilar posted on her Facebook page in response to online reactions prompted by her father Freddie’s May-December romance with a 16-year-old girl. In her defiance, Maegan even named the girl, Jovy Gatdula, in her comments.

She did not mince words and even expressed dismay over fellow artists who have made snide comments about her father.

“Mas naba-bad trip ako sa post ng mga kapwa naming musikero [I’m more dismayed by the posts of my fellow musicians], calling my dad sick, a pedophile,” she continued in a comment on the same post.

Maegan is Freddie’s second-born, among his 6 children with his first wife Josephine. She has since followed her father’s footsteps and has secured her own niche in the rock scene both as a musician and producer. She also manages Ka Freddie’s, the family-owned bar in Tomas Morato, Quezon City.
