[WATCH] Rappler Live Jam: Jason Dy, Jazz Nicolas, and Paolo Guico

MANILA, Philippines – In the latest Rappler Live Jam on July 12, Tuesday, we have back-to-back performances from three of the country’s foremost musicians working today. The Voice of the Philippines season 2 champion Jason Dy; composer, Itchyworms drummer and vocalist Jazz Nicolas; and songwriter Paolo Guico joins us at the headquarters to perform a few tunes.

The three are part of this year’s 12 finalists in the PhilPop songwriting competition. Finals Night is scheduled on July 23.

Jason will be interpreting “Lahat,” penned by Soc Villanueva. Jazz wrote “‘Di Na Muli” with Wally Acolola, and will be interpreting it alongside his band. Paolo and his brother Miguel composed “Tinatangi,” which will be performed by Cookie Chua, Bayang Barrios, and The Benjamins.

Jason Dy captivated many with his stellar run on the second season of The Voice, but since then, the smooth crooner has recorded his own post-win eponymous album.

Meanwhile, Jazz Nicolas of Itchyworms fame has been composing not only his band’s songs, but even for movies like Marie Jamora’s Ang Nawawala (the result of a teamup with Ciudad’s Mikey Amistoso and Pedicab’s Diego Mapa), and of course, for songwriting competitions such as PhilPop.

Songwriter Paolo Guico has a band with his brother Miguel called The Benjamins. He was also a part of the prestigious Elements Music Camp in 2013.
