MANILA, Philippines – It might have been 8 years since they did One More Chance, but Bea Alonzo and John Lloyd Cruz still remember some of the famous lines from the movie, beloved by their fans. 

In an interview with reporters at the DVD and book launch of the movie at Fairview Terraces Friday, July 31, both shared some of their favorite lines from the film.

“[The line] it takes grown-ups to make a relationship work,” Bea said of the line from Mark, played by Derek Ramsay. That line is preceded by, “Minsan (sometimes), it’s better for two people to break up so they can grow up.”

Bea also said this: “Pinakafavorite ko yung tumatak sa mga tao yung ‘Ako na lang, ako na lang ulit.’”

(My favorite is the one which really stuck with viewers – “I wish it were me, me again.”)

That’s in reference to the same scene as the one John Lloyd mentioned, too. 

John Lloyd said: “S‘yempre naman may makakalimot ba sa ‘you had me at my best.’ Totoo naman iyon sa lalaki di ba?  Kung kailan okay naman at ang tino-tino mo tapos ibebreak mo yung heart niya,” he added.

(Of course who could forget the line ‘You had me at my best.’ That’s true for guys, right? When you are okay and faithful in a relationship, that when you break his heart.)

Bea also mentioned that she like the exchange of lines between John Lloyd’s character Popoy and actor Janus del Prado’s at the hospital. In the scene,  Popoy and his friends try to comfort Chinno after he attempts to hurt himself after breaking up with his girlfriend. 

As for the movie being a classic, both are very happy that people continue to support the film.

“Siguro wala naman sa amin nakaisip [na magiging classic ito.] Nung ginawa namin ito para lang kami mga siraulo na gusto makapag-kuwento ng kuwento nung Basha and Popoy…siguro dahil sobra naming minahal, ng mga barkada namin sa pelikulang ito, pati nung mga tao sa likod ng camera, kaya ako naniwala ako sa ano, you get what you give.“ John Lloyd said. 

(I guess none of us thought [it would become a classic.] When we did the movie were like crazy people who just want to share the story of Basha and Popoy…I guess because we loved it so much, our friends also in the movie as well as the people behind the camera, I believe you get what you give right?) 

“So kung yung binuhos namin dito 8 years ago, parang hanggang ngayon nagbubunga pa rin siya ng maganda,” he added.

(So whatever we poured into this movie 8 years ago, until now, it’s still producing great results.) 

Revolving around Popoy and Basha’s ups and downs as a couple and apart, One More Chance also focuses on the characters as individuals – how they come into their own as they explore their own careers. They must work together after their breakup, and this causes old feelings to resurface.

Directed by Cathy Garcia-Molina, One More Chance, which was remastered for DVD, was also made into a novel by Juan Miguel Sevilla.

It was also announced that Bea and John Lloyd are scheduled to do a new movie with director Cathy Garcia-Molina at the helm. It may show later this year. – Rappler.com
