Matteo Guidicelli punches Sarah Geronimo’s bodyguard at supposed civil wedding – Taguig police

MANILA, Philippines (UPDATED) – What should have been a happy day for Matteo Guidicelli and Sarah Geronimo ended on a messy note when the actor reportedly punched Geronimo’s bodyguard at the couple’s supposed private civil wedding ceremony on Thursday, February 20, at a hotel in Bonifacio Global City. 

Colonel Celso Rodriguez, Taguig Police chief said that Jerry Tamara, 31, went to the police station at 3:27 am on Friday, February 21, bearing a medical certificate. Tamara then reported that the actor punched him in the neck.

According to the police blotter, the incident happened at Shangri-La at the Fort in Bonifacio Global City at around 11 pm on Thursday.

Tamara told cops that Sarah’s mother Divine Geronimo arrived unexpectedly at the hotel where the two had planned their civil wedding, and asked to speak to her daughter in private because she was not informed about the ceremony.

This angered Guidicelli, who accused Tamara of telling Divine about the private wedding. Tamara had been working for the Geronimo family for a long time.
 
“Upon knowing, Matteo accused and confronted him as the one responsible [for] informing Sarah’s mother,” said the police chief.
 
The police chief said Divine had a hint that the couple would do a “secret” wedding as she had not given them her blessing. He said they were waiting for Tamara to file a formal complaint against Guidicelli.

Rumors of Guidicelli and Geronimo’s civil wedding circulated early on February 20, when the Philippine Star cited “a highly reliable source” as saying that the union would happen any time that day.

Geronimo and her colleagues on The Voice Teens seemed to belie the rumors, posting photos and videos of the pop star at rehearsals for the show on the same day.

Geronimo and Guidicelli announced their engagement in November 2019. Shortly after, Guidicelli posted a message addressed to Geronimo’s notoriously strict parents, reassuring them of his love for their daughter and saying he hopes that one day they can be one family.– Rappler.com
