Daniel Padilla, Janella Salvador sing in ‘Himig Handog’ finals night

MANILA, Philippines – Teen King Daniel Padilla and Be Careful with My Heart star Janella Salvador wowed the crowd on Sunday, September 28 at the Araneta Coliseum after interpreting their respective songs for Himig Handog Pinoy Pop (P-Pop ) Love Songs 2014.

Now on its 6th year, Himig Handog continues to search for the best amateur and professional Filipino songwriters. The competition originally started as a tribute to overseas Filipino workers, and later evolved, producing many memorable songs.

Daniel performed the song “Simpleng Tulad Mo,” which won the MOR Listeners Choice Award. Janella interpreted the song “Mahal Kita Pero”  by Melchora Mabilog, which won 3rd place in the songwriting competition.

Daniel’s performance trended on Twitter with the #DanielPadillaHimigHandogFinalsNight2014.

Songs created by participants of Himig Handog are interpreted by local artists chosen by the songwriters and the recording company. This year, Daniel and Janella were the youngest “interpreters” in the competition. Daniel was also an interpreter in last year’s contest. 

The other interpreters in this year’s competition are Morissette Amon for the song “Akin Ka Na Lang”, “Dito” interpreted by Jovit Baldivino, “Hanggang Kailan” interpreted by Angeline Quinto, “Pare Mahal Mo Raw Ako” interpreted by Michael Pangilinan, “Pumapag-ibig” sang by Marion Aunor featuring Rizza and Seed, “Umiiyak ang Puso” sang by Bugoy Drilon, and “Everything Takes Time” composed and interpreted by Hazel Faith dela Cruz.

2nd place: “Halik Sa Hangin” – composed by Davil Dimaguila and interpreted by Ebe Dancel and Abra. (Also the Star Cinema’s Choice Award.) 

   

 

3rd place: “Mahal Kita Pero” composed by  Melchora Mabilog and interpreted by Janella Salvador(Also MYX Best Music Video).

  

 

4th place: “Walang Basagan ng Trip” composed by Eric de Leon and interpreted by Jugs Jugueta and Teddy Corpuz

 

5th place: “Hindi Wala” composed by Nica del Rosario and interpreted by Juris Fernandez
