Jake Cuenca explains why he walked out of ‘Gandang Gabi Vice’ taping
Jake says he did not want to put his ex-girlfriend Chanel Olive Thomas on the spot when he saw her during the show

MANILA, Philippines – Actor Jake Cuenca admitted he did not push through with the taping of Vice Ganda’s show Gandang Gabi Vice when he found out his ex-girlfriend model Chanel Olive Thomas was on set nearby.

In an interview with reporters at the press conference of his new teleserye Pasion de Amor, Jake said he did not want to put his ex-girlfriend in a tight spot.

Nagulat ako. Siyempre bago tinawag ang mga pangalan namin, pagsilip ko sa pintuan, nakita ko ‘yung ex ko. Nandoon kasi lahat ng candidates ng Miss Earth. I just didn’t want to put my ex-girlfriend in that situation,” he said.

(I was surprised. Of course before they called our names, when we peeked out the door, I saw her [Chanel]. All of the candidates of Miss Earth were there.)

“Hindi sa hindi ko kaya [na nandoon siya]. Naging gentleman lang ako na ayaw ko ilagay sa alanganin ‘yung tao, lalo na moment niya ngayon na mag Miss Earth,” Jake added.

(It’s not that I couldn’t take it that she was there. I was just being a gentleman because I did not want to put her on the spot especially that this is her moment, that Miss Earth is approaching.)

Jake said he has already apologized to Vice for the incident and that Vice knew the reason why he had to bow out.

Chanel is competing as one of the candidates of Miss Philippines Earth which will be held on May 31. (READ: Chanel Olive Thomas on joining Miss PH Earth: I want to bring that change)
