Anne launches her first makeup line and it's really affordable

MANILA, Philippines – Anne Curtis has added another title to her growing list of achievements –makeup entrepreneur. On Wednesday, September 20, Anne launched her very own makeup brand called blk cosmetics.

In an interview with Rappler, Anne said that blk stands for black, a color that she loves. She is not only the co-founder and face of the line – she is also the creative director.

“It was so hard. You know, this is my first venture as co-founder and creative director. But I guess I was so into it, and I’ve been wanting to do this for so long, it didn’t seem like a job for me. It was challenging but I had so much fun doing it,” she said.

Aside from having her own line, Anne is proud that her makeup brand was approved by the People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA), meaning the line is cruelty-free and not tested on animals. According to Anne, it took some time before she and her partner Jacqe Yuengtian Gutierrez were able to come up with good formulas.

“It took a while but at the end of the day, it was of utmost importance that we are approved by PETA and for me kasi, I’m such an animal-lover and I have so many pets. I can’t stand of the thought that I am coming out with a makeup brand that was tested on animals. So I made sure that we’re absolutely 100% cruelty-free.”

Anne also said it was very important for her to come out with a line that is suitable for different types of skin tones.

“That’s the beauty of blk. If you go on to our official website, we’ve done different swatches on different skin types. If you’re a morena, or if you’re medyo on the whiter side, we’ve done color swatching so you can see how it looks on your skin [tone]. So we all made it friendly for all the skin types.”

Anne’s line includes the all-day intense matte lipstick, which comes in 6 shades (P 299).

Her velvet lip cream lipsticks on the other hand comes in 4 colors (P 299), while the liquid matte lipstick colors come in 5 shades (P 349).
