In an interview with reporters during his send-off, Thursday, July 7, Sam, a Filipino-Persian model and fitness trainer said that he’s looking forward to having a good time in the competition, last joined by John Spainhour. He also told the press how he prepared himself for contest.

“Well I made sure I’m physically ready. Just keep working out, different kind of work outs…I did some question-and-answer training prior to this date and yeah, I’ve been reading a lot of books, just making sure that I keep my mind with the right information so I can be more confident,” he said.

In an interview with the press Thursday, July 7, Sam was asked  as to whether male pageants are relevant.

Sam who recently turned 26, said: “I think it’s a very good opportunity for us male contestants to create a platform for where we can reach more people. And it’s good for our careers, there will be more opportunities and more people are following you right now and much into you. I hope in the very near future more people will appreciate male pageants.”

As he’s reportedly one of the more hyped up candidates, which might supposedly give him an advantage, Sam said he was flattered but also cautious.

I really appreciate the support I’ve been getting and people have been really supportive. As for an advantage, I know Filipinos are really very active in when it comes to social media compared to other countries. But I’m sure other contestants, they also have their own supporters and makes them comfortable as well.”

4. He is part of Mercator Management.

Sam is part of Mercator Management, which handles not only some of the top models in the country, but has also trained some of today’s beauty queens under Aces & Queens which is led by Jonas Gaffud.

5. On friend Hideo Muraoka joining Pinoy Big Brother. 

Sam also gave his thoughts about model Hideo Muraoka joining Pinoy Big Brother.  

“I actually saw him just before he joined. I think Hideo is a very intelligent man. He’s very intelligent, he’s very bright, I respect him a lot and I’m sure he’ll do great and I can’t wait to see what it [PBB] has in store for him,” he said.

Sam said that he’s very aware that it will be a different enviroment inside the house and told everyone that if he was an audience, he would “focus on the positive qualities” of Hideo “because he has a lot of nice qualities.”

6. Will he join showbiz?

After Mr World, Sam shared that he plans to take a vacation and spend time with his family. As for showbiz plans, Sam said he cannot act but has done some related work.

“I’ve done some work but yes why not? I’m not a good actor so acting is not my thing, but yeah I think it’s fun to do a lot of hosting, modeling.” 

Mr World Philippines is a partnership between the Mr World Organization and ALV Events International.
