#PHvote Challenge: Tell us who is running in your area
From October 12 to 16, join us in quickly mapping out who are filing their candidacies in towns, cities, and provinces

MANILA, Philippines – From Monday to Friday, October 12 to 16, those who want to run for public office – from municipal councilor to president of the Philippines – are filing their certificates of candidacy (CoC).  

There are 18,069 elective positions in the national and local government up for grabs in 2016.

We need your help to keep track of these aspirants in your areas. Be reporters for Rappler at Comelec offices nationwide. Here’s what you do:

1) Stand by at your local Comelec office when you can throughout the week. Get the following information on the one filing the CoC:

  • NAME
  • POSITION
  • LOCALITY
  • BALLOT NICKNAME
  • PARTY

If you can, take a photo of the CoC or the aspirant holding his/her CoC.

2) Go to our CoC map and fill in the information from No. 1.

To report a candidate who filed his or her CoC:

  • Click on the report button at the top right corner of the map.
  • Click the “Info Alert” radio button
  • Provide your name, the location of the report, and the details of the filing.
  • You can also upload photo of the CoC or the aspirant holding his/her CoC.

3) Share this callout to everyone you know via Twitter or Facebook with the hashtag #PHVote. Tell your friends and family from across the country to do their part in watching possible candidates. 

4) You can also share what happens in your area during CoC week.
