‘Stay safe’: Netizens help warn public vs Cosmic Carabao Gin
(3rd UPDATE) 'Don't try something that can possibly cost you your life,' says one concerned netizen

MANILA, Philippines (3rd UPDATE) – As the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) investigated the complaint against Cosmic Carabao Gin, netizens took  to social media to help warn the public against the product and to ask bars and stores to take it off their shelves.

The FDA on Tuesday, July 9, ordered the seizure of all Cosmic Carabao Gin products in the market after it found a “high level of methanol” in samples of the alcoholic beverage tested by the agency.

It announced the findings of its investigation 4 days afer it began the probe into the gin brand. This followed a report that a woman died and another woman showed signs of possible methanol poisoning after consuming the product, which is not registered with the FDA.

It advised the public against consuming products that are not FDA-reigstered and reminded business establishments to “strictly comply with the FDA’s existing rules and regulations to ensure that only safe and quality products shall be made available to the public.”

Prior to  FDA announcement on the findings of its investigation, some netizens took to social media to help warn the public against consuming the gin brand.

Some said they personally knew those affected.

Others singled out bars who had chosen to continue selling the product despite the reports.

There were also netizens who focused on stubborn people who probably got even more curious to try Cosmic Carabao Gin despite the FDA warning.

Where’s your accountability?

Netizens also accused the gin manufacturer of allegedly mobilizing an army of Twitter bots to defend it online, rather than being accountable for the incidents.
