DFA Davao to offer red ribbon services starting June 17
The Department of Foreign Affairs' consular office in Davao City can now authenticate documents for Mindanaoans set to work overseas

DAVAO CITY, Philippines – Mindanaoans set to work abroad don’t need to travel to Manila anymore to have their documents authenticated by the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA).

In an advisory, the DFA Davao Consular Office said it would start receiving the following documents for “red ribbon” certification on Monday, June 17:

  • Birth certificates certified by the Philippine Statistics Authority
  • Marriage contracts certified by the PSA
  • National Bureau of Investigation clearances
  • Professional Regulation Commission licenses
  • Academic credentials certified by the Commission on Higher Education

DFA Davao is the first consular office in Mindanao to offer the red ribbon service. The DFA has 5 consular offices in key cities in Mindanao.

Overseas employers have been requiring their Filipino workers to secure authentication of their documents from the DFA.

“Fellow Mindanawon, no need for you to go to Manila for red-ribbon purpose,” said Ebrahim Zailon, DFA Davao head.

Zailon said those seeking authentication of their documents can simply go to DFA Davao at the 3rd Floor of SM City Davao on Quimpo Boulevard, Ecoland, Matina.

He said the DFA Davao authentication service will start from 10 am to 4 pm from Mondays to Fridays, and from 10 am to 3 pm on Saturdays.

While the authentication service will start through a soft launch on Monday, Zailon said its formal launching will be held on June 21 yet. – Rappler.com
