Police say Judge Jeaneth Gaminde-San Joaquin and her aide Rocelle Martinez were waylaid in Libmanan, Camarines Sur

A judge and her aide survived Tuesday, October 20, an attack by assailants who were on board a motorcycle in Libmanan, Camarines Sur.

Judge Jeaneth Gaminde-San Joaquin, Presiding Judge of Regional Trial Court Branch 56 of Libmanan, Camarines Sur, and Rocelle Martinez, were in their service vehicle heading towards Naga City when the suspects ambushed them around 2:30 in Barangay Puro Batia, Libmanan, Camarines Sur.

The suspects fled after the shooting.

A police report said San Joaquin, 46, was injured because of shattered pieces of glass, while Martinez, 34, sustained gunshot wounds.

The police said both victims were rushed to the Libmanan District Hospital for medical treatment.

San Joaquin was appointed presiding judge only last year.

A few months ago, San Joaquin issued the warrant for the arrest of Jenelyn Nagrampa-Caballero, 37, regional secretary general of Gabriela Bicol.

Caballero was an incumbent village councilor of Barangay San Isidro Poblacion, Nabua town in Camarines Sur when she was arrested on murder charges, which she denied. Her case is now on trial.

Another leftist official arrested on a warrant by San Joaquin was Dan San Andres, 64, of South Centro Sipocot, Camarines Sur, and spokesperson of Karapatan-Bicol. He was also arrested on murder charges.

The attack against San Joaquin was strongly condemned by the  Integrated Bar of the Philippines, Camarines Sur Chapter.  – Rappler.com
