ANTIPOLO CITY, Philippines – Ray Parks said Calvin Abueva should have directed his apology to girlfriend Maika Rivera following their on-court incident during a 2019 PBA Commissioner’s Cup game. 

Abueva said sorry to Parks through a live video on Instagram, but refused to apologize to Rivera after they flashed dirty fingers at each other late in Phoenix’s 103-98 win over Blackwater on Friday, June 31. 

The Elite rookie claimed the Fuel Masters star also made mastubatory gestures towards Rivera and called her a “b**ch.” 

“To be honest I didn’t see or heard it, but I appreciate it,” Parks said of Abueva’s apology. “But I feel like it should be more directed towards Maika. Because before this, me and Calvin had no issues.”

“I feel like it’s just more of trying to protect Maika. At the end of the day, she’s still a woman. We’re professionals, we hold each other to a standard. It comes with the job, the things that are said off the court.” 

Parks also clarified Rivera did not call Abueva a “monkey” or any racist remarks. 

“There were some derogotary that have been said. I know one thing for sure, though, my girl is not racist. She comes from a good family,” Parks said.

“She’s dating me. I’m same as Calvin, Fil-Am also. It would be discriminatory to me if she would have said that word that was allegedly said. But the truth would find its way out.” 

As Blackwater notched its fourth win in 5 games with a 98-92 victory over Rain or Shine on Sunday, June 2, Parks wants to keep his sights on basketball.
