Banario wins impressively at ONE: Age of Domination

MANILA, Philippines – Filipino cage warrior and Team Lakay representative Honorio Banario impressed by winning his undercard fight on the ONE Championship “Age of Domination” card on Friday, December 2 at the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City.

Banario displayed complete dominance against Rajinder Singh Meena, as the 30-year old was forced to tap-out after being caught in an armbar, with under two minutes remaining in the first round.  

The former ONE lightweight champion imposed his will on his opponent as he opened the round with a takedown just under 5 minutes into the first round, then scored another one at the 2:50 mark of the opening round.  

Banario successfully took side control before transitioning into a crucifix. He then landed a combination of punches and elbows before slapping on an armbar submission on the Indian’s left arm. 

Banario improves to 11-6 after this decisive win.  

Banario’s fellow Team Lakay member however, also suffered a devastationg first round loss via submission after Finnish Toni Tauru took his back and locked in a rear-naked choke 

Eustaquio fell to 8-5 after this setback. 

The main event of the evening will feature ONE Championship heavyweight champ Brandon “The Truth” Vera defending his title against the unbeaten Japanese juggernaut Hideki Sekine.

The earlier results featured Brazilian Leandro Ataides going over his opponent, Mohamed Ali of Egypt by knockout with a brutal flying knee. 

Team Lakay’s Edward Kelly was also victorious as he TKOs Sunoto of Indonesia.  

Filipino Danny Kingad and Chinese Taipei national Jenny Huang both win by submissions in their respective. 

The first two fights both ended via unanimous decision as Sim Bunsrun of Cambodia and Indonesian Mario Satya Wirawan displayed cage supremacy. – Rappler.com
