MANILA, Philippines (UPDATED) – After leading with a call to protect the data of its customers from the government and a discussion of the company’s environment-friendly initiatives, Apple announced on Monday, March 21 (March 22, Manila time) that it was dropping the price of the Apple Watch. It also also confirmed earlier reports of a new iPhone and iPad.

The first big product reveal is the announcement of new bands as well as a price drop for the Apple Watch to $299. Apple also announced that it was coming out with new bands as part of a “Spring lineup” for the device.

The iPhone SE uses a 64-bit A9 processor and the M9 motion coprocessor, making it just as powerful than the iPhone 6S.

A press release from Apple says that the iPhone SE promises “longer battery life, faster wireless, a 12-megapixel iSight camera featuring Live Photos and 4K video, and Touch ID with Apple Pay.”

The 16GB version is priced at $399 while the 64GB version is priced at $499. Preorders for the iPhone SE will begin on March 24. The new iPhone is slated to come out on March 31, and will be released in over 100 countries by the end of May.

iPad Pro

Weighing in at one pound, the iPad Pro uses a 9.7-inch Retina display.  In a press release, Apple said the device uses “a new pro Retina display with greater brightness, wider color gamut, lower reflectivity,” and Night Shift mode. It also uses a “new True Tone display technology to dynamically adjust white balance.”

 

The iPad Pro sports an A9X chip with an integrated M9 coprocessor, making the iPad Pro a contender against most laptops. It also uses a new 12-megapixel iSight camera for shooting Live Photos and 4K video and a 5-megapixel FaceTime HD camera.

The iPad Pro supports the Apple Pencil, as well as a new Smart Keyboard cover meant for this new 9.7-inch iPad Pro.

The iPad Pro will cost $599, $749, or $899 for 32GB, 128GB, or 256GB storage sizes. There will also be a $1,099 iPad Pro version with a 12.9 inch display and 256GB of storage space.
