MANILA, Philippines – Want to make games but feel a barrier between you and gamemaking because you don’t have all the necessary skills that come with coding a game? Google’s got your back.
The company on Thursday, June 13 (June 14, Manila time) announced its Area 120 division – which handles incubation of employees’ special projects – has released a tool-slash-game program called Game Builder.
Game Builder, unlike some other gamemaking tools, is designed to be a game in itself.
The system is reminiscent of Minecraft – in which your actions in Game Builder help shape the creation of your own game. Multiple users can work on a single project at the same time, and while you don’t need to know how to code – the game lets you drag and drop specific commands using its own cards-like interface – you can also create your own command cards using Javascript. You can also grab 3D models off Google Poly to help in your endeavors.
Game Builder is currently available as a free download on Steam for PC and Mac. – Rappler.com
